Planning your Studies

After receiving your Offer of Admission from the HsKA, you will have to take the following steps:

  • Obtain a valid passport (if you don't have one)
  • Have evidence of adequate funds
  • Apply for health insurance in your country, or you can apply       for it upon arrival in Germany (can be obtained in Germany       for approx. 65 EUR per month)
  • Apply for an entry/student visa at the German embassy in             your country (for non-EU members)
  • Possibility to request for arranging a room in a student       residence via the International Office.

A visa will, in most cases, be valid for only three months after your arrival in Germany and will have to be extended.

You are strongly warned against entering the country as a tourist if you wish to study here.

 

A tourist visa cannot be converted into a visa or residence permit for educational purposes, not even by nearby German foreign diplomatic missions in neighbouring countries.
